I spend a lot of time in the kitchen cooking and baking, but I also love to make inedible things. Here are some of my favourite homespun beauty recipes:
Antioxidant face mask
In a blender, mix three tablespoons of oats along with 1/4 teaspoon of ginger powder and 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric (add green-tea powder if you can find some). Pour in enough water to make a thick paste and add 1/2 teaspoon of flax seed oil. Apply the mixture to cleansed skin and leave for 10 minutes then wash off with a wet facecloth. It will leave your skin glowing.
Make a brew of chamomile and peppermint tea and add some fresh lemon juice. Pour the mixture into an ice-cube tray and freeze. I love to rub these ice-cubes around my eyes and on my face first thing in the morning. It de-puffs and invigorates.
Mix together a mashed banana, one egg, two tablespoons of honey, two tablespoons of milk and four tablespoons of olive oil or baby oil. Apply to wet hair, leave for half an hour or all day if you want – the longer the better. Then wash it out to reveal lustrous hair.
