The last three days I’ve been ridiculed, teased, taunted and shunned. Beaten, laughed at, foot tripped and bullied. All by my closest friends, family and collaborators. Why? Because I’ve gone back to my Jewish roots and taken style inspiration from the main man – Jerry Seinfeld (though let’s face it, I bear a closer resemblance to Kramer). I’ve been rocking the SNEANS. Sneakers with jeans. If it’s good enough for the American tourist, it’s good enough for me.
Back in December I bought this super high tech pair of Asics running shoes. I had grand ideas of running every day, getting fit, keeping healthy. I went for one run and just about had an asthma attack. I spewed a little in my mouth. The shoes went back in the box and there they sat for four months… Until Saturday morning.
The day started like any other. Except for one small difference – my beige pants were in the wash. Since I’ve given all my other pants away (I’m looking at you Katherine), I was forced to wear jeans. Now, I have this thing with pants and shoes. I can’t deal with the pants covering up any of the shoe. The dilemma is further enhanced by the fact that I only wear hitop Chucks. And whenever I wear jeans with Chucks, I always think how annoying it is that I have to roll them up so high. So this time I decided to change the shoes.
Alongside those golden days of style that were the Seinfeld glory years, I remembered the chunky Raf Simons trainers from Fall 2009/2010 and decided to channel them with my Asics.
