If there’s one thing AS Colour is lacking, it’s a retail store located on every main street in every major town in New Zealand. Spread the low-priced basics love to the masses, I say. Prior to last week, their sole flagship was a destination outlet opposite Mount Eden Prison. But in a giant retail expansion, the company literally doubled its store numbers overnight, opening a new space on Cashel Street in Christchurch. Located at number 95, right in the heart of the Garden City’s fashion precinct, the store is managed by Stacy La Plant, formerly of Cheapskates, and, quite coincidentally, the guy who sold me my first skateboard when I was 12 years old. It’s a one-stop-shop for all things related to the product – alongside the blank tees, hoodies and crewnecks the staff will offer full screenprinting and embroidery tips and advice. In other words, expect to see a giant influx of new tee shirt brands coming out of Christchurch in the upcoming months.
