#2010 The scene outside Calvin Klein

Grace Coddington.

Calvin Klein always has two different shows on the final day of New York Fashion Week: one at 2:00pm and one at 3:00pm. You know you’re doing something right if you’re invited to the first show. There, you’ll be sitting alongside the likes of Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington, Uma Thurman, a Jonas Brother and maybe even a Twilight star or two. My invitation read: Isaac Hindin Miller, 3:00pm. Still, better late than never. And anyway, the advantage of being invited to the second sitting is that you get to watch said stars file out from the venue.

Always first, Ms Wintour exited swiftly, trailed by two bodyguards. Her appearance caused a giant ruckus among the gathered paparazzi and streetstyle set, though she was gone as quickly as she had arrived. Uma Thurman is enormous and beautiful in the flesh. Wearing an electric blue dress and heels, she towered above one and all, and worked it like a pro for the screaming photographers. Bryan Boy passed by with a wave, The Sartorialist favourite Giovanna Battaglia had a few snappers scampering, but it was Vogue‘s Grace Coddington who was undoubtedly the crowd favourite. When she appeared, the chants of “Grace, Grace, Grace!” could be heard the entire block over. She laughed: it can’t be a bad gig being both the Creative Director of Vogue and the most loved woman in fashion.
