I was in Milan, it was the lead up to Fashion Week, it was raining. I was sopping wet, my hair stuck to my cheeks, huddled under an awning. In the middle of the downpour, there she was. She pulled up to the curb on her yellow Vespa wearing a head-to-toe clear plastic jumpsuit, it even had a hood. She elegantly stepped onto the footpath and found a spot of shelter. Slowly unzipping herself, she revealed the full effect of her outfit underneath. Her immaculate hair unraveled like a Pantene commercial; her pleated Prada skirt still crisp and her five-inch Alai suede heels bone dry. It has taken me six years to find the fashion equivalent, and Terra New York comes pretty damn close.
Crafted to withstand heavy rain and other inclement weather thanks to its heavy TPU/ Urethane materials, the brand’s $375 translucent trench coat is 100% waterproof with heat-sealed seams to stop any drops of water. And like the Italian woman that haunts me every time it rains, the clear material allows for your outfit to shine right through.
