It’s hard to believe that up until about 18 months ago, I had almost entirely sworn off jeans. I wore khakis day in and day out, and that was that. I was never going to wear denim ever again. Ever. Until I did, and here we are today. My latest acquisition is this pair of Kurts by True Religion from the brand’s new Core Fits range. It’s a sleeker, lower profile option than what you might expect from the label (which I’ve always associated with heavy, light-coloured stitching and those back pocket flaps) — the branding is limited to the horseshoe stitching on the back pockets, and the wash is indigo with a tone-on-tone overdye detail. Kurt is one of the skinniest fits TR is offering, but they’re definitely not spray-on tight, there’s still room in the leg to move, and enough space to do a peg-roll at the hem, which is my current go-to with every pair of pants I own.
I paired them with my favourite blue cap, red shirt, white tee, blue socks, and navy Nikes, because #America.
If you’ve never owned a pair of True Religions try them out, and if you used to wear them back in the day then stopped, give them another shot — the label is going through a complete brand reinvention at the moment, I’ve seen the latest range and it is filled with some crazy technologically advanced pieces if that’s your jam.
I’m wearing: Little Brother X Katherine is Awesome cap; L.L. Bean Signature chamois shirt; Alternative Apparel t-shirt; True Religion Kurt jeans; Punto cashmere socks; and Nike sneakers.
