Hey, gidday mates! As you might imagine, I spend most of my days running all over New York City drinking coffee and taking Instagram photographs and changing outfits multiple times. Just kidding! Kind of. No but seriously, a couple of weeks ago in collaboration with Armani Exchange and Details Magazine, I did exactly that. The following is a day in the life of moiiiii, wearing Armani Exchange, as seen through the lens of the lovely Sidney Bensimon.
Coming from New Zealand, I grew up wearing rugby polos as a purely functional garment, but now that I’m in the States I like the novelty of anything that reminds me of my youth chasing an egg shaped ball around a grassy field. This one works great with black jeans.
I’m wearing: Mixed Media Jacket.
The older I get, the more I appreciate the simplicity of tone-on-tone dressing. Grey and black is a strong, masculine combo; perfect if you want to look cool but not like you’re trying too hard. Like a casual job interview… or a date.
Speaking of which… My girlfriend Jenny Albright, and I DJ together as Isaac Likes Jenny. We’re playing tonight at Never Never on 14th Street, and they have a strict no hip hop rule in there, but we’re going to try and sneak in some Fetty Wap. Check out the cool simplicity of this sweater: It’s color-blocked 50 shades of grey.
I’m wearing: Brown Leather Eagle Watch.
A giant chunk of my day is spent snapping Instagram photos as I’m running all over town. I’m a sucker for anything involving water, anything involving my sunglasses, and anything that people recognize as classic New York, so a photo of my sunglasses with the broken down piers on the Hudson River is a home run.
In New Zealand, it was a rare day that I didn’t encounter the
water, so one of my favorite ways to chill out in New York is to sit and watch the boats rolling along the river. It kinda almost reminds me of home. This black bomber and white T-shirt with black selvedge denim jeans is perfect for those days when you want to look cool but you can’t think of what to wear. Easy uniform.
Invest in suede. Seriously, it’s one of the biggest hits of the moment, but it’ll never go out of style. A suede bomber is a great place to start because it instantly elevates your casual basics like denim and a tee. Throw in a good looking watch and you’re basically Gosling off-duty. Basically.
One final meeting at the TriBeCa Grand Hotel — try the steak with poivre sauce, it rules — once again rocking a simple color-blocked sweater, and matching the charcoal and red elements with this cool analog watch.
I’m wearing: Leather Wellworn Watch.
Following my meeting at the TriBeCa Grand Hotel; temperatures have dropped so I threw on a sweater underneath the suede bomber. Because the rest of my colors are so neutral, the red stripe really pops against the beige and dark denim. And the best bit is that I don’t even have to get changed again before my DJ gig.
