Hey, gidday mates! Jenny Albright and I became fast friends from the first time we met in Auckland in 2010. She’d flown over for New Zealand Fashion Week, we bumped into each other at a party, she didn’t have a car, I did, so for the next week or so, I’d come pick her up every day, we’d hang out and grab coffee or see a movie, then she flew back to New York, and that was that. And then…..
A year later, I booked a oneway ticket from Auckland to Paris, with no plans to ever return. When I arrived, Jenny was already there visiting friends, and the hanging out continued. A few weeks later, once again, she flew back to New York, I stayed in Paris, and that was that. And then….
Once August rolled around, Paris was deserted. Everybody I knew had left for New York, so I figured NYC was the place to be. I booked my ticket and flew out the next day. When I arrived, I knew about five people, and Jenny was one of them, and she came all the way down to the Financial District to meet me, so from that moment on, she was my best friend in New York City. And then….
Jenny and I quickly discovered that we had a mutual affinity for hip hop, nightclubs, and staying out until five o’clock in the morning. But she had boyfriends, and I had girlfriends, and we swore we just saw each other as platonic friends, so that was that. And then….
Two years later, after partying like maniacs on a four-or-five-times-per-week basis, nightclubs started calling us up and asking if we wanted to throw parties for them. We thought about it and decided we didn’t wanna throw parties, but we did wanna DJ parties. Thus, Isaac Likes Jenny was born. Still no romance, though. And then….
In April of 2015, we were at a barbecue with friends and I looked across the room and saw Jenny and suddenly everything felt different. She looked at me and must have felt something, because a couple of minutes later we were pushed up against a wall making out. The rest, as they say is history.
