Hey, gidday mates! How are we, how are we? Like I keep saying, I’m in the midst of a love affair with camp collar short sleeve shirts, redecorating my apartment, and my new dog Fifi (not necessarily in that order). To celebrate, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite things, which is a feature I typically reserve for Instagram. So with that in mind, read on.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! I’m a sucker for street style photography, it’s where I (and quite possibly you) pick up the vast majority of my outfit inspiration. But despite the fact that it’s women’s season right now, I’ve still been trawling through the slideshows to see what style takeaways I can glean from the ladies. And rest assured, there are a ton; even for us boys. My three favorites: 1. Stonewash denim (always good). 2. Hoodies layered under heavier jackets. 3. A pop of red. In other words, American sportswear references are huge right now. The good news is that you can replicate it at home with a Champion hoodie and a second hand pair of Levi’s, or you can drop insane cash on Vetements, whatever works. But whether you wear them separately or altogether like my new favorite dresser Chiara Capitani (above), they will not let you down. God bless America! More below.Click to Continue!
Anon asks: Hi Isaac! Valentine’s Day is like four fricken days away and I can’t think of what to buy my boyfriend!!! He’s got cool style and he’s super laid back and we promised each other that we wouldn’t spend more than $100… HELP ME! (Please.)
Hey, gidday mate! Never fear, your mate is here. But before we get into gift ideas I do have to tell you that my friend Richard Biedul is living at my house at the moment, so I shouted out, “Hey Richie! Come help me with this gift guide. What would you want your girlfriend to get you for Valentine’s Day?” And he ran into the living room with an excited look on his face… and gave me a lecture about the commercialization of love. I listened for approximately 15 seconds, then interrupted him and convinced him to give me a couple of good ideas. He did. See below.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates. Overshare alert: I’ve had a stomach virus for the past four days, so besides leaving the house on Friday morning for 25 minutes to shoot with Kat and Jenny, I haven’t left my bed in 96 hours. Except, of course, to run to the bathroom and explode. In my downtime I managed to watch a season and a half of the BBC cop drama Luther, which stars Idris Elba as a rage-obsessed-yet-steadfastly-loyal detective; I read all 10 of these Incredible It Girl Profiles, nine of which were brilliant (the Tiffani Amber Thiessen one was just plain nasty); and watched the Super Bowl, which included a TV commercial featuring my friend and fellow New Zealander Georgia Fowler! I also obsessively pored over thousands of photos of The King of Cool, Mr Steve McQueen. Here are some of my favorites. Happy-er Monday than me, everybody!Click to Continue!
When it comes to the men’s fashion extravaganzas, my favorite weeks are Milan and Paris, hands down. But for street style photography, you really can’t beat what goes on in Florence at Pitti Uomo. I’m watching from afar this season, and speaking from experience having attended the world’s largest menswear trade show five or six times, it’s almost better seeing the highlight reel on your favorite publication’s website; kinda like watching a game on TV with the expert commentary. Style takeaways thus far include big texture, high-waisted pants, all things 1970s, monochrome, the clash of tailoring and sportswear, and as always, exciting pops of color. I’m about to head out to the airport — Jenny and I are flying to Milan in T-minus five hours. Ciao bella!Click to Continue!
