Hey, gidday mates! Full disclosure: I haven’t shot anything for the blog for like two and a half weeks, so I’m running low on imagery. What I do have, however, is an archive full of outfit posts, so today, and perhaps for the next couple of days, I’m kicking it vintage with some 2015 favorites. First up, let’s talk oversized coats and how to nail the look.Click to Continue!
Tucked away in the back of an unmarked warehouse on an industrial side street on the outskirts of Downtown LA is Re/Done — the smartest, coolest and most environmentally friendly denim line I’ve personally ever encountered. You know how the holy grail of jeans is that perfect pair of vintage stonewashed Levi’s that you find at a flea market, fall in love with, take home, try on, and go, “Wow the denim is awesome but the fit is atrocious,” well, file this one under, ‘Ideas I Wish I’d Come Up With First’.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! I’m still here in the seasonless blue skies-ville known as Los Angeles, California, but if you’re located in a city that boasts falling leaves, chilly winds and an imminent winter, this one’s for you. Wherever you are though, there’s a shift afoot. Bjorn Borg’s hair (and Wimbledon outfits) are starting to look extremely fresh; turtlenecks are everywhere; sheepskin coats are the outerwear of choice; and suede Chelsea boots are popping up on the unlikeliest of feet. The 1970s are back, which means hair’s getting longer, colors are getting richer, and Almost Famous can be claimed as outfit inspiration. We’re just one step away from men in flared jeans. Like I proclaimed so enthusiastically in my post on Monday, spring is here and it’s not being shy about making its presence known (today’s high is 17 degrees, compared with minus 17 last week). Clearly, this calls for an entirely new wardrobe strategy: Take off overcoat; replace with lightweight jacket.Click to Continue!
Spring officially sprung (sprang?) yesterday here in America, and as we pushed our clocks forward one hour, something miraculous happened — the season proclaimed its existence with a bright blue sky and blazing yellow sun, and began to work its magic on the snow that’s covered the ground for the past few months. Mountains became molehills, drips converged to form puddles, puddles overflowed to form little streams, and little streams coursed together to form swiftly flowing currents that washed the murky remnants of winter down the drain and out to sea. So with that in mind, it’s my honest hope that this camel double breasted beauty by the Japanese label Tomorrowland will be the last overcoat I have to post on my blog for the next six or so months.Click to Continue!
