Hey, gidday mates! It’s been a while since I posted an outfit, but but but I’ve been working on all this other stuff like MUSIC that I am so excited to share the moment it’s finished. If you don’t know yet, I’m working on my first solo EP, which is gonna be made up of songs my Dad wrote, and at least one song that I wrote. So it’s fitting then (in a roundabout way), that this outfit features a sweater vest that my Dad once owned, and recently gave to me.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! I’ve officially set my style agenda for the summer, and this is it: Take one camp collar shirt (the type where the collar and top button are folded over like a mini lapel); throw it over a tucked-in white T-shirt; add a pair of cropped, baggy pants or jeans, some white socks, and sneakers or leather lace-ups, and das it das it. If everything’s a complementary shade of blue, even better. Side note: This backpack is from the Coach X Disney collab collection and features Mickey Mouse blowing a raspberry at whoever’s standing on your left. Gold.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! As I previously mentioned, I’m here at New Zealand Fashion Week with Jenny, and we’re going to be shooting our favourite looks from a selection of NZ designers with our mate Dan Roberts. Today’s pairing is I Love Ugly and Ruby. You know, back in 2010 I met with Valentin Ozich from I Love Ugly and he showed me the range (including his insanely successful Zespy pants), and I told him that I didn’t think that whole cuffed hems/drop crotch thing was going to pan out. Five years and tens of thousands of pairs later he definitely had the last laugh, and it’s been exciting to watch his company’s enormous international growth. From Auckland to the world!Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! Just a quickie to show off what I wore on day one of the Milan men’s shows — aka my best attempt at channelling James Dean. Like I said yesterday, Ermenegildo Zegna is quite literally on the opposite side of the city from my hotel and I’m always the last to arrive; these photos were taken by Melodie Jeng as I was running into the show at the 11th hour. Speaking of Ermenegildo Zegna, check out my opinion of the collection, here!Click to Continue!
First it was Rebel Without a Cause, now this candy-shop-inspired outfit, next it’ll probably be Cadillac convertibles and Brylcreem. I am going deep on the 1950s right now. Truth be told, I’ve always had an affinity for the decade — it was the peak era of Ivy League style, the heyday of Steve McQueen and Paul Newman, and the slightly more preppy, slightly more conservative lead-up to the 1960s where things got a little darker and sharper and edgier (see: Stones, Rolling, et al). Achieving the look is simple: Pull your pants about two inches higher than what you’re used to (this obviously can’t be done with lowrise styles), have them cropped at the ankle an inch or two higher than usual, tuck yourself in, always wear a white T-shirt beneath whatever it is you’re rocking, keep your shoes as heavy-soled and sturdy as possible, and never shy away from a pop of red. Das it.Click to Continue!
