Comme des Garcons has been one of my favorite brands for as long as I’ve loved fashion. Probably the thing I love most about Comme is that there is literally something for anybody, no matter how freaky or conservative your style might be, and no matter how deep your pockets are. When I was younger and broke I’d save up my dollars and dip my toe in the Comme water with the fragrances (Comme 2 is an all-time favorite), leather pouch wallets, and everything Comme des Garcons Play; but as I’ve grown older I’m more and more obsessed with Comme’s takes on really simple pieces, like the blue worker jacket I’m wearing in this photo — it’s a classic Carhartt or Dickies style, but cut in the most beautiful indigo blue textured cotton. There are also all these little details that I love, like the over-dyed garment tags on the inside and the slubby cotton that you’d only see if you looked at it up close.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates. Welcome to February. The first month of the year is officially over, taking with it all those well-intentioned plans to live life so much differently this time round. Did you know that gym membership levels rise by up to 50% in January? And that the second week of the first month of the year is the busiest week of the entire year? And that 80% of those new members are never seen again after February the 14th? The weakness of our very composition!Click to Continue!
Hello friends! For the past few years I’ve been one of those complete cliches of a human being who rejects everything about their home country. I can’t even begin to count the amount of times I’ve complained about New Zealand or New Zealanders or how isolated it is here or the tall poppy syndrome or the lack of fun things to do, or this, that, and the other thing. But home is where the heart is, and after a year of being gone (the longest time I’ve ever spent away from Auckland), I flew back in and realised how incredibly lucky I am to come from this godforsaken country.Click to Continue!
Photo: Tommy Ton Did you leave your Christmas shopping to the last minute? Yeah you did. Yeahhhh you did. Me too. It’s not that I don’t love the people I’m buying for, it’s just that I haven’t gotten around to doing it just yet. Does that make me a bad person? It remains to be seen. To help myself (and any other dilly-dalliers out there), I’ve put together a list below of 10 things that I would happily give or receive this Christmas. most of the items are well under 100 bucks, some would work as stocking stuffers, but thereClick to Continue!
I don’t know about you, but Fall is here and I’m going nuts on the colour brown. Having worn virtually nothing but blue for most of my adult life, it’s a surprisingly easy transition, since everything else in my closet is either blue, forest green, maroon, or khaki, and therefore goes pretty damn well with brown. So it will come as no surprise that my 24 eBay collections are filled with glorious brown clothing, such as that Levi’s Trucker Jacket in buttery soft suede (top left), and those glorious Church’s lace-ups (bottom right), but that they’re also filled with all thoseClick to Continue!
