I did all my Christmas shopping in NYC and couldn’t wait to give everybody everything the moment I landed in NZ, so I gave my family their presents the morning I arrived, and now there’s nothing for anybody on Christmas Day. Nightmare. But over the last few days I did the rounds at all my favourite shops in Auckland, which gave me a chance to pick up some ideas for last minute gifts. Hello friends! For the past few years I’ve been one of those complete cliches of a human being who rejects everything about their home country. I can’t even begin to count the amount of times I’ve complained about New Zealand or New Zealanders or how isolated it is here or the tall poppy syndrome or the lack of fun things to do, or this, that, and the other thing.
