I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this already, but I was watching the first series of Friends the other day and I couldn’t believe how much Joey and Chandler dress like everybody I see walking around the East Village in New York right now. (Ross was always kinda wack.) That was 1994 and here we are in 2015, proving that if you want to be on top of your style game, simply look back 20 years and replicate whatever everyone was doing back then but with a slightly modern spin and you’ll be good to go. I’m always an advocate for blue on blue double denim, but if you wanna switch it up a bit try doing a white denim jacket with your blue jeans or a pair of white jeans with your blue jean jacket. The best thing about going home is reuniting with your loved ones. But now that I’m back in New York, I have to put up with these two winkers. No but seriously, Tom Bull arrived in New York last night from Milan and seeing him and Jenny Albright again (my current surrogate mother) after two months apart was the greatest thing ever. I’m not going to lie, it’s been a sentimental week. I moved out of my apartment yesterday and said goodbye to the family who took me in when I first started coming to New York five years ago. My two best friends are leaving tomorrow and Saturday and I won’t be seeing them for a long while, and everyoneClick to Continue!
Before I came to New York and made friends with a bunch of menswear bloggers, Katherine was my sole blog-friend. Back home in New Zealand we’d spend every day shooting photos, collaborating and talking shop then sit silently on our laptops in the same room writing on the internet. Last week she arrived in New York and we’ve become inseparable once again. Today I shot her for the first time in months in a head-to-toe look comprised of entirely new purchases – blue Yankee fitted, Harvard sweater, Uniqlo oxford and pants and Burberry dub monks. Hanging on the LES with Nicolas Lazaro from nickelcobalt and Noah of NOVH fame. I went away to the university with the least school spirit in the entire world, I never stayed in a dorm, New Zealanders aren’t big on clubs or societies and if you said you wanted to join a fraternity, most of my compatriots would laugh at you. But here in New York there’s this actual, real life brotherhood of menswear bloggers that hangs out all the time. It’s the best. I now understand what it must be like to be part of a high school footballClick to Continue!
