Hey, gidday mates! Denny and I have a shared obsession with trawling through photos of our favorite style icons and attempting to recreate the outfits with clothing we already have in our wardrobes. For this one, we were inspired by the prince of teenage angst, Mr James Dean. If you’ve been following here for a while, you’ll know I did my own version of Rebel Without A Cause last year, so Denny recreated that one, and I went for the James-Dean-as-a-biker vibe. I’ve been wearing these shorter, baggier jeans a lot recently — it’s the 1950s by way of 2016.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates. I was walking out of my apartment yesterday to shoot this exact outfit but with the red version of the jacket, when a delivery arrived from Baracuta with the navy, green and khaki versions. I ripped open the box, tried them all on, the navy worked best, so I figured I’d shoot it instead of showcasing the red for the umpteenth time. I’m a big fan. The fact that I now own the G9 jacket in four different colors really speaks volumes about my obsession, but as far as I’m concerned, it is the perfect casual jacket. Worn by everyone from James Dean to Steve McQueen, amazing with denim, khakis, corduroys, sneakers and leather lace-ups, the G9 is my go-to whenever I don’t feel like wearing a leather jacket or a bomber, but I still wanna finish off my outfit with something easy and cool. When in doubt, go classic. It’s something I remind myself constantly when I’m choosing clothing, and there aren’t too many menswear pieces as classic or iconic as the Baracuta G9. Just FYI, the Baracuta G9 might not have been the actual jacket that James Dean wore in Rebel Without A Cause (the jury’s still out), but it’s a close enough replica to fool the average humanoid. Anyway, now that it’s getting hot here in New York, this is about the heaviest layer I’ll be able to wear for the next few months, so I figure why not go all out with the colour? I’ve been keeping it super simple with a plain white T-shirt, blue jeans and black leather lace-ups (literally just like James Dean in the movie), and it makes a great change from my usual all-blue-everything wardrobe. Anon asks: Hey Isaac! My younger brother is in his second year at uni, and for the last couple of years he’s been acting out quite a bit and I don’t know what to do. He’ll deliberately be condescending or say things that I know he knows will either hurt me or infuriate me, and he says a ton of legit vicious things that are actually quite demeaning too. It’s weird because we’ve always been tight AF and super open to each other about everything, but now I can’t even tell him that he’s being a dick because he responds with something nasty then proceeds to act very aloof and chill about it. I’m also reluctant to say, well, anything around him, because it might give him an excuse to cut me down in some way again. What’s going on?
