Hey, gidday mates! Retail stores have been pushing spring/summer clothing since mid-January, which makes all the sense, because who doesn’t wanna start buying lightweight layers when it’s snowing outside? But this week spring arrived, and you can see it straight away — dogs are humping legs, teenagers are running around grabbing butts, and some eager beavers are trying it in T-shirts and tank tops. Too soon for all that if you ask me, but now is a good time to start having a think about what to wear for spring. This outfit is about as seasonally cliche as they come — it’s practically the Love Boat uniform — but I’ve been wearing black all winter, so it’s a welcome change. NB though: The loosely worn DB jacket, the untucked tee and the lived-in (aka: dirty) jeans. Anything too crisp with a combo like this and it get a little too exciting and new.Click to Continue!
Gucci — Jenny said it best while the show was in process: “People talk about how crazy this stuff is, but imagine how good it’d look if you just wore one piece at a time with a pair of jeans?” And proving her point, this outfit walked out.Click to Continue!
When it comes to the men’s fashion extravaganzas, my favorite weeks are Milan and Paris, hands down. But for street style photography, you really can’t beat what goes on in Florence at Pitti Uomo. I’m watching from afar this season, and speaking from experience having attended the world’s largest menswear trade show five or six times, it’s almost better seeing the highlight reel on your favorite publication’s website; kinda like watching a game on TV with the expert commentary. Style takeaways thus far include big texture, high-waisted pants, all things 1970s, monochrome, the clash of tailoring and sportswear, and as always, exciting pops of color. I’m about to head out to the airport — Jenny and I are flying to Milan in T-minus five hours. Ciao bella!Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! I’ve been going so casual for the past few months that I thought it was about time that I went back to my schoolboy-dressing roots for a minute. So with that in mind, this was the outfit I wore when Jenny and I deejayed the William Morris Endeavor holiday party at The Bowery Hotel a couple weeks ago. I’m not messing around when I say schoolboy, and to be fair, if I pushed this outfit any further it’d probably err on the side of costume, but here and now, it’s a uniform classic: Navy chalk-stripe blazer, white button-down shirt, navy knit tie, grey pants, black Docs, done.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! In case you were wondering, this was the outfit I wore when I went to meet Jenny’s mom for the first time. To be fair it was actually the second time I’d met her, but it was the first time I was meeting her as Jenny’s boyyyyyyfriend. oooOOOOOoooooo. I read once that people trust salesmen more if they’re wearing blue suits, so this seemed like a good option. Thoughts?Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! So Jenny and I flew into LA yesterday, dropped our bags off at our little WeHo house rental, then caught an Uber to the Sunset Marquis to see Tom Bull who was sitting pretty by the pool with a chihuahua named Wolfie. That guy lives the life. He refuses to worry, travels wherever the wind takes him, and enjoys himself everywhere he goes. He’s like the walking manifestation of that Bob Marley song. We could all learn a thing or two from Mr Bull.Click to Continue!
If I’ve learned anything about rockstar dressing from the likes of Elvis, John Lennon, or, more recently, Harry Styles, it’s that the winning outfit combo goes a little something like this: Sunglasses, insane coat (preferably animal skin of some variety), plain t-shirt, jeans, great leather shoes, done. Less is always more.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! I don’t know about you, but I’m somebody who suffers from a serious amount of guilt every time I sleep in past 8:30am on a weekday. This morning I woke up at 10:45am. 10:45!!! I blame three things: the three parties Jenny and I deejayed till 3am last week; my newfound obsession with the family Kardashian; and the NyQuil I drank last night to dull the cold that’s a-brewin’ as we speak.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! If you’ve been reading Isaac Likes for a long time, you’ll know that one of the most exciting aspects of my old life in New Zealand was that every two or so months I’d pack up and travel across the world to some far-flung location. Even when I was depressed at home and feeling like I was losing opportunities by being so far away from the action, I always had a ticket in my back pocket which gave me something to look forward to.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! First things first, click over to Mr Porter to see a feature I was shot for alongside The Roots drummer Questlove, celebrity trainer Noah Neiman, man about town Steven Rojas, and photographer Dapper Lou about how to dress for your body type. (I was chosen as the lean man.) You’ll see I’m wearing the same sweater here as I am in those photos — the team were aware of my obsession with beautiful woolen knitwear, and very kindly let me walk out the door with it after we’d shot. It’s the perfect piece to add a bit of texture and color to an otherwise pared back chocolate, tan and khaki combo, aka the fall uniform.Click to Continue!
