God Save The Food is this popular restaurant in Milan that sits opposite Armani’s spaceship grey headquarters, and close to those of Zegna, Canali, and Moncler. On any given day it’s filled to the brink with the young Milanese fashion crowd, who come for the salads and fresh-squeezed juices (labeled smoothies on the menu), and who probably stay for the gossip, but I don’t speak the language so it’s hard to tell. It’s also the closest any of us out-of-towners come to healthy-ish food while we’re here for fashion week, so it’s a regular pitstop during the shows.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! The second to last stop on our magical Grecian tour was the isle of Poros (not to be confused with Paros or Paxos), which is the closest island to Athens. As you can see, by this point on the trip, I was more tanned than I’ve ever been in my entire life, and I had well and truly embraced the kind of relaxed summer wardrobe that is typically reserved for European men and/or Jude Law in The Talented Mr Ripley. When in Rome, people, when in Rome. If you ever find yourself in Poros, I highly recommend you rent a scooter from a gentleman named Stelios, and take yourself directly to Askeli Beach. You won’t be disappointed!Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! What was a mild winter is now turning into a diabolically cold and wet spring, with the occasional sunny day to brighten things up. So it seems a little incongruous to be pushing warm-weather-clothing in the current climate, but surely we’re only a week or two away from balmier days. SURELY. To wit, I got my hands on these Missoni pieces last week, and they’re a far cry from what I’ve been wearing for the past few months (overcoat and black jeans or black leather jacket and stonewash jeans). The pants are significantly wider and higher waisted than anything I usually wear, and the jacket hits above the hips in that perfect 1950s crop. This stuff is elegant as all hell, but works perfectly with a white T-shirt and white socks and my classic Dr Martens. Prime example of this East Villager-by-way-of-New Zealand’s take on Italian luxury. Va bene?Click to Continue!
Gucci — Jenny said it best while the show was in process: “People talk about how crazy this stuff is, but imagine how good it’d look if you just wore one piece at a time with a pair of jeans?” And proving her point, this outfit walked out.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! Like I mentioned yesterday, on Saturday night I had dinner with Cameron Dallas. I should say THE Cameron Dallas, because the crowd that showed up for the kid at the Calvin Klein show yesterday was rivaled only by crowds I’ve seen for Lucky Blue Smith, Justin Bieber and Will Smith. I’m talking girls in their hundreds, screaming, chanting, crying, the real deal. And proving my age, I didn’t even know who he was. (If you’re old like me, he’s a Youtube star and social media sensation.) Full disclosure, I shook his hand but didn’t talk to him because we were seated at opposite ends of the table, but he did show everyone a Youtube video of a bunch of young dudes eating hair cake, so that happened.Click to Continue!
