God Save The Food is this popular restaurant in Milan that sits opposite Armani’s spaceship grey headquarters, and close to those of Zegna, Canali, and Moncler. On any given day it’s filled to the brink with the young Milanese fashion crowd, who come for the salads and fresh-squeezed juices (labeled smoothies on the menu), and who probably stay for the gossip, but I don’t speak the language so it’s hard to tell. It’s also the closest any of us out-of-towners come to healthy-ish food while we’re here for fashion week, so it’s a regular pitstop during the shows.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! Long time no talk. I have a legitimate excuse: Last week was one of the busiest of my life. Jenny and I deejayed three times, hosted a dinner party, and shot a two-day wedding campaign/lookbook thing for David’s Bridal. Good times all round. So this shoot here with my mate Matthew Zorpas is kinda funny for the fact that it happened within the space of 15 minutes on Monday afternoon between a phone call with my parents and my weekly therapy session; which was immediately followed by a trip uptown to the Tiffany & Co. flagship where we deejayed the party with Vogue that night.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! I’m coming to you live from sunny Monterey, California, but the photos you’re seeing were shot last month in sunny Gulf Shores, Alabama. But since I’m out here in Cali with Jenny’s parents, it seemed appropriate to publish the second set of photos I shot with her dad, aka my future Father in-law, aka Mr Tom Albright.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! Denny and I have a shared obsession with trawling through photos of our favorite style icons and attempting to recreate the outfits with clothing we already have in our wardrobes. For this one, we were inspired by the prince of teenage angst, Mr James Dean. If you’ve been following here for a while, you’ll know I did my own version of Rebel Without A Cause last year, so Denny recreated that one, and I went for the James-Dean-as-a-biker vibe. I’ve been wearing these shorter, baggier jeans a lot recently — it’s the 1950s by way of 2016.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! Another day, another trip to the Flatiron. This time, I was joined by my mate Denny Balmaceda, who suggested we dress in the Mod style. When I think of Mod, I imagine English gangs in suits with turtlenecks worn underneath trench coats or fishtail parkas, riding around on little Vespas. There were no Vespas to be found at such short notice, so we had to make do with what we had, which was suits, turtlenecks, coats and each other. Tally ho.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! Last week I visited my old stomping ground, Bond Street, to shoot this Abercrombie & Fitch Fall Preview (check out my previous posts with A&F one and two here). Now that the temps are dropping, I’ve been living in hoodies, and this woolen version is my new favorite layering piece — it’s amazing when I’m watching Netflix on the couch, it’s even better on a chilly Fall evening, but I like it best under a black leather jacket with black jeans (which I posted earlier this week). Special mentions go to Abercrombie’s impressive array of plaid shirts — if you can imagine it, they’ve got it — and their new denim program, which gets better with every new drop. Now all I need is a slice of pumpkin pie and I’ll be good to go for the rest of the season.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! Exciting news on this chilly Autumnal Monday — my good friends Moti Ankari and Marcel Floruss (aka the bloggers behind The Metro Man and One Dapper Street), are launching their shoe line Ankari Floruss today. I was a little dubious when I first heard that they were working on a footwear collection, because from what I hear, shoes are the hardest piece of clothing to get right, but over the weekend I saw the fruits of their labor in the flesh, and I was genuinely impressed. There are seven pairs of shoes in the first collection, one for every day of the week, in two different color-ways each, spanning a tassel loafer, a derby, a wingtip, a boot, a Chelsea boot, a double monk and a sneaker. My favorite pair is the Chelsea boot in black, which I’m wearing here. It’s a steal at $295. Also, they’re throwing a party to launch the shoes tonight at Hotel Chantelle. 7pm. Jenny and I are DJing. I dare you to come crash.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! Have no doubt — we are well and truly living in the age of social media. Just this morning I took part in the world’s first ever Instagram fashion show for Perry Ellis alongside 99 of my favorite bloggers and men’s style gurus. We each shot a look and posted it to our grams with the tag #100PiecesOfPerry, and just like that, a digital fashion show was born. Who knew! I was given this simple black sweater with grey elbow patches, and I paired it with a grey T-shirt and my favorite pair of grey hopsack pants. To quote the indomitable Moti Ankari, “Simplicity wins.” You can’t go wrong with the classics. Very Perry!Click to Continue!
Yo yo! Comparing a bunch of menswear bloggers to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr is kinda like comparing your grandmother’s book club to the Cleveland Cavaliers, but… when in Rome? So yeah. On Tuesday this week, in the midst of NYFW, a bunch of us boys met up to hang and shoot. The dress code was tailored, the atmosphere was rowdy, the banter was as you’d expect: “Damn that’s a nice suit… does it come in men’s?” I thought I’d share some images from the day that was, featuring Messrs: Bobby Hicks, Denny Balmazeda, Steven Onoja, Sam White, Marcel Floruss, Ryan Styles and Moti Ankari, with photos by James Creel. For the record, I refuse to pull obscene gestures in photographs. Mum gets mad when I misbehave.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! I know this feels premature because the weather’s still balmy, but I live right by a park, and there are a scattering of brown leaves appearing on the ground. Fall is right around the corner, and I’m not even mad about it. But seriously, without getting all Carrie Bradshaw on it, the city gets crazy beautiful, the colors are incredible, and the weather starts to allow for proper clothing to be worn. What’s not to love?? So with that in mind, I took a couple pieces from the Abercrombie & Fitch fall collection out for a spin this week — check the plaid shirt, the puffer vest and the dark denim. These rich autumnal hues are doing it for me right now, and if you look closely, you’ll see the blue check in the shirt ties in perfectly with the denim and vest. Killer. Bring on fall!Click to Continue!
