Coming from New Zealand, it’s hard to understand the American system with its lack of diversity, its lack of universal healthcare, its lobbyists, its insanely high rate of military funding, and its second amendment. And that’s not even mentioning the general consensus that, ‘It is what it is, and it’s not going to change.’ I strongly believe that one thing this campaign has shown us is that racism and prejudice are alive and well and living in America, and that misguided fear directed in a cunning way is an incredibly powerful weapon.
