Hey, gidday mates! We’re in that crossover period between spring showers and summer heat right now in New York City, and the atmosphere outside feels not unlike the inside of a mouth. Not my favorite. So, lightweight raincoats are an absolute must because you never know when the skies are going to open and drench all and sundry. I say lightweight, because anything heavier will result in a similar drenching, from sweat. Ewwwwww. Jenny and I took a spin around Nolita with our mate Kat Irlin yesterday, and paired our trench coats with easy T-shirts, broken-in denim and Chuck Taylors. Fun fact: The jeans that Jenny’s wearing are my 10-year-old Ksubi Van Winkles, which I bought in Auckland in 2006, and wore every day for the next two years. No joke. They were one color when I got them, every fade you see is entirely legit. (Pity I’ve outgrown them.)Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! Another day, another Baracuta G9. This time it’s the stone colorway, favored by Steve McQueen. The only difference being that liked to wear his with a cream colored sweater underneath; the perks of a year-round tan. As a fairer skinned individual, I try not to wear too much beige too close to my face, but I hope the navy blue sweater (knitted by my Mum!!!) balances it out a bit. Yay? Nay? Now, a quick note on those sunglasses. I’ve been wearing Moscots for about five years — they were the first proper-good pair of sunglasses I ever picked up. This pair is part of a special limited edition collaboration with the Australian record label Future Classic, and there are only 100 pairs available worldwide, so get in quick.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates. I was walking out of my apartment yesterday to shoot this exact outfit but with the red version of the jacket, when a delivery arrived from Baracuta with the navy, green and khaki versions. I ripped open the box, tried them all on, the navy worked best, so I figured I’d shoot it instead of showcasing the red for the umpteenth time. I’m a big fan. The fact that I now own the G9 jacket in four different colors really speaks volumes about my obsession, but as far as I’m concerned, it is the perfect casual jacket. Worn by everyone from James Dean to Steve McQueen, amazing with denim, khakis, corduroys, sneakers and leather lace-ups, the G9 is my go-to whenever I don’t feel like wearing a leather jacket or a bomber, but I still wanna finish off my outfit with something easy and cool. Obsessed.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! First things first, I went to the Rihanna concert last night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn (shout out to my mate Jeff for the hookup) and god damn that girl can perform. Over the course of 90 minutes she sang all the hits, changed outfits five times, fronted three different dance troupes, gave props to the one dude in the audience holding a Barbados flag, asked a young girl in the front if the guy next to her was her dad, the girl said no, then Rihanna was like, “Whoops, it’s your date,” and generally killed it. Huge effort. Huge!Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! I woke up one Saturday a few weeks ago and decided that I really wanted to buy something, so I walked to a boutique named Odin in Soho and picked up a grey boiled wool blazer by Engineered Garments on sale. I took it home, put it on, and within 30 seconds knew that I was never going to wear it. Bugger. So last weekend I went back to Odin and used my store credit to pick up this oversized army green hooded fishtail parka, also by Engineered Garments. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever owned before, and I’ll be quite honest and say that I haven’t quite figured out how to wear it properly yet, but I have a strong feeling that come next fall/winter it’s going to be my go-to. I’m saving it for a rainy day.Click to Continue!
