Tim Blanks. Photo: Oliver Rose To kick off the series of interviews I’ll be doing with fascinating, exciting, inspiring, and all-round interesting people over the course of the F/W 14/15 menswear season, I sat down with one of my personal heroes this evening — style.com‘s Editor-at-Large, Tim Blanks. When I was 19 years old and in my second year of university, I stumbled across a site that featured photos of every look from every prominent menswear show in Milan, Paris, and New York. The runway looks were incredible, but what I loved more was the written review that accompanied each show.Click to Continue!
It is officially freezing in this city — negative eight yesterday, negative two today, and the same again tomorrow — and I’m heading to Chesterfield, Massachusetts for Thanksgiving on Wednesday where it’s going to be even colder, so right now I am obsessively thinking about winter coats. They come in all shapes and sizes, and I am spending a disproportionate amount of time researching the best looking varieties to make my own. The problem, though, is that coats are bloody expensive. You’ve gotta look at them as an investment purchase that’ll keep you going for years ahead. So if youClick to Continue!
Over the past year or so, I’ve spent a disproportionate amount of time in and out of designer stores discussing the merits of various handbags with various female friends. It turns out girls really love handbags. Who knew? I’m just going to come right out and say it — Rodeo Drive and all its luxury stores realllllly did it for me when I was in LA. One of the definite highlights of my trip was walking up and down and checking out the window displays, the ready-to-wear, and even the handbags in all the different boutiques. My shameless consumerism knows no bounds. So I did the ultimate tourist thing and took bad photos of the store fronts and logos (plus one sneaky shot of the shoes at Celine). These are those photos. For the record, if you’re aClick to Continue!
Hey so after I wrote last week’s post about the five shoes you need this winter, I had a bunch of girls contact me and ask me to do one for them. I often get asked to talk more about womenswear and I probably should because I am finding myself far more interested in women’s clothing than men’s of late, largely due to the fact that I have a real life clotheshorse on hand who actually enjoys/tolerates being dragged around department stores and boutiques and forced to try on anything that catches my eye. It’s probably my favourite way toClick to Continue!
