Hey, gidday mates! My mate Denny Balmaceda called me up last week and said, “How about you, me and Nathan do a Reservoir-Dogs-in-Vans-on-skateboards shoot tomorrow?” And I was like, “Yes please.” So we did. And here it is.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! Here in New York, there’s this gang of dudes (mainly models, musicians and other nightlife types) who wear a uniform of black leather jackets, skinny black jeans and tan suede Saint Laurent Chelsea boots. I’m yet to buy into the YSL boot club (whenever I try them on, they make me feel like I’m a cowboy), but I’ve gotta admit, it’s a super fresh look. It’s also one of the best examples of something I never thought was possible — pairing brown and black. It would appear that black and tan is a perfect color combination, especially when the black is denim and the tan is suede. This is my version (and the jacket I’m wearing is on sale for under $100 right now!). One of these days I’ll make the Chelsea boots mine, though. One of these days.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! Another day, another gratuitous make out series featuring me and Jenny, shot by our friend Kat Irlin (@kat_in_nyc). For this set of images, we were inspired by the 80s movies of John Hughes — Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, et al. Think: Kids running amok after the prom in dresses with Chuck Taylors, denim jackets with ties, plus plenty of smeared lipstick. And then we got rained on. The results, below.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! Retail stores have been pushing spring/summer clothing since mid-January, which makes all the sense, because who doesn’t wanna start buying lightweight layers when it’s snowing outside? But this week spring arrived, and you can see it straight away — dogs are humping legs, teenagers are running around grabbing butts, and some eager beavers are trying it in T-shirts and tank tops. Too soon for all that if you ask me, but now is a good time to start having a think about what to wear for spring. This outfit is about as seasonally cliche as they come — it’s practically the Love Boat uniform — but I’ve been wearing black all winter, so it’s a welcome change. NB though: The loosely worn DB jacket, the untucked tee and the lived-in (aka: dirty) jeans. Anything too crisp with a combo like this and it get a little too exciting and new.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! If there’s one job that I’ve been coveting for as long as I can remember, it’s a Kooples campaign. I know a ton of people who’ve done them (also, a ton of people who’ve subsequently broken up), and no matter what happens, they’re such an awesome moment in time; something to show the grandkids. “When I was 25, I dated this guy for six months, and we did The Kooples campaign! We broke up soon afterwards, but it was fun while it lasted. Don’t tell your grandfather.” To be clear, Jenny and I did not shoot The Kooples campaign, but we did do a social media project with the brand for Valentine’s Day, photographed in and around the Gramercy Park Hotel by Ms Katerina Irlin (@kat_in_nyc_). One day, though, one day.Click to Continue!
