Hey, gidday mates! I can’t believe that this time two months ago, I’d never owned a camp collar shirt; now, I’m practically living in them. In case you’re unaware, a camp (or Cuban) collar shirt is a short sleeve button-up — often worn open — which features a lapel-like fold below the collar, and a straight-cut hem. Not unlike Vince Vaughn’s favorite 90s bowling shirt, but without the colored panels on the front. This one is by the Japanese brand Blue Blue Japan, and as you’ll see below, it features an amazing Mt Fuji + tiger print on the back. Plus it’s on sale right now! Win/win. I’ve just arrived back from a beautiful weekend upstate, but I’m failing at life because I threw my back out trying to boost a certain someone up a tree she wanted to climb. Chiropractor appointment is one hour away. Just gotta hold on till then.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! What a week it’s been. I flew back in from Europe on Tuesday night, deejayed with Ms. Jenny Albright till 3am the next night/morning, worked the next couple of days, then picked up a car and drove Upstate for a sunny weekend away. I packed this exact outfit so we could shoot it while we were there, but it rained the entire time, so it had to wait till I arrived back into the city yesterday. As you know, I love a white and blue combo outfit, and these PF Flyers are such a solid dark blue that I figured I could get away with wearing this cornflower blue suede jacket with the white jeans (I wouldn’t try it without that dark shoe foundation though, it’d be too much light on light). If you’re not a fan of the white jeans, these shoes will also look great with stonewash denim or khaki pants, and a simple white T-shirt/patterned short sleeve shirt like the one I’m wearing here. Too easy!Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! I’m excited to announce that I’m partnering with Superga on a series of posts this summer showcasing The People’s Shoes of Italy in a variety of looks. If you’ve been reading this bloggy wog for any length of time you might have noticed my predilection for canvas sneakers, but my sneaker colour palette typically runs the gamut from blue to white — with nothing in-between — so for my first effort I wanted to stretch myself a bit and try something new. Enter Superga’s Cotu Classic in Cerise (deep red) — the perfect pop of colour with an all-white-everything ensemble. Not bad, right?Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! Today’s outfit was brought to you by the colour white and the letter D. As I’ve mentioned a billion times before, it had never even occurred to me to wear white jeans before I moved to America, but now that I’m here, I spend a good amount of time in the most stain-friendly of stain-friendly pants. They’re literally the white T-shirt of bottoms, they go with everything. But for those of you who don’t come from a country that embraces the white and you’re not quite sure how to do it, the only way is to just do it. Wear them hard, like you’d wear any other pants any other day. Don’t be scared of ketchup or mustard or dirty park benches. The good lord invented bleach for a reason. Then, when you’re used to it, go the whole hog and throw on a white denim jacket to complete the ultimate white-out ensemble. What could go wrong!?Click to Continue!
Hey gidday mates. I catch the bus from my apartment to Union Square every day, and on my journey I pass this building on the corner of 11th Street and Avenue C, and every once in a while that building is completely painted over and within a day, the walls are covered with a brand spanking new piece of artwork. Last month it was a rastafarian lion; once it was a bunch of interlocking faces; this month it’s a giant wave, probably because #surfbort. It adds a little spark of excitement to my early morning commute.Click to Continue!
