Hey, gidday mates! I’m on this quest to collect as much streetwear as possible right now. It’s a hobby I haven’t indulged in since my university days (over 10 years ago!!!) when I used to scour eBay for all the Nike Vandals and throwback basketball jerseys I could find, and wear them with the skinniest jeans imaginable. It was a look. This time round I’m toning it down. A bit. This yellow Stussy hoodie is my latest acquisition, and I love it under a beautiful piece of outerwear like my trusty Zegna coat, and some tailored pants like these wide-wale cords by Gant Rugger, all finished off with these heavy-soled Dries Van Noten derbies. I guess it’s like an adult take on a teenage style. Which is fitting, because I’m kinda like an adult version of a teenager.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! I love living in New York, and I do believe that attending the international fashion weeks is a privilege, not a chore, but after a solid month of shows in Milan, Paris and New York (men’s and women’s), not to mention freezing temperatures, snow, and an internal voice — heady with fashion week-induced insecurity — that tells me all sorts of unhelpful things, it was high-time to get out of the city for a quick breather with my other half.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! Happy Friday. It’s been a pretty slow week for me, mainly spent adjusting to the NYC timezone and remembering how to walk on snowy sidewalks, but as always, it feels good to be home. Okay, so: It’s customary to bring back a souvenir or trinket of some description on your travels, and I’m no exception. My haul includes teapots from Turkey, posters from Singapore, and vintage trunks from Californian flea markets, and now this Maison Kitsune sweater from Paris. I saw it in the brand’s lookbook almost a year ago, fell in love with its kitsch 1970s Swedish ski aesthetic, thought, “I have to have that sweater,” then completely forgot about it till I saw it in the store in Paris at 50% off. It was meant to be. Forget postcards from Paris, the best souvenirs come in sweater form.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! Like I mentioned yesterday, on Saturday night I had dinner with Cameron Dallas. I should say THE Cameron Dallas, because the crowd that showed up for the kid at the Calvin Klein show yesterday was rivaled only by crowds I’ve seen for Lucky Blue Smith, Justin Bieber and Will Smith. I’m talking girls in their hundreds, screaming, chanting, crying, the real deal. And proving my age, I didn’t even know who he was. (If you’re old like me, he’s a Youtube star and social media sensation.) Full disclosure, I shook his hand but didn’t talk to him because we were seated at opposite ends of the table, but he did show everyone a Youtube video of a bunch of young dudes eating hair cake, so that happened.Click to Continue!
Hey, gidday mates! If you’re in NZ or Australia or any other country that wakes up before we do here in America, Merry Christmas! If you’re not, Bah Humbug! We’ll get to you tomorrow. You might have noticed I’m obsessed shearling. Must be the New Zealander in me. I picked up this jacket from the sample rack at the Z Zegna offices a couple of years ago, and I pull it out of the closet whenever the temperatures drop below a tolerable level. The best thing — it’s so thick and warm that it works perfectly with the style-agenda I’m pushing this winter: Great jacket, white T-shirt, jeans, leather lace-ups. Harry Styles-chic, if you will. Invest in shearling (second-hand or new), and don’t ever underestimate the power of a great bomber. Try this one at home.Click to Continue!
